$350,000 in Steaks Stolen from a Township Business

LOGAN TOWNSHIP, NJ
Thursday, December 3rd, 2015

It’s a heavy week for deli thievery, and the numbers continue to increase.

Earlier this week $110,000 stolen in meat, as well as a separate incident involving an officer smuggling $200,000 worth of cheese. Now $350,000 in frozen steaks have disappeared.

NJ.com reports the meat was stolen by yet another semi-truck driver picking up a delivery from a Cargill Foods distribution center in Logan Township, New Jersey on November 19th.

The driver presented the company with what appeared to be a legitimate order slip, according to police, but never showed up to its scheduled destination in the Bronx, New York.

The load contained 24 pallets of frozen steaks, worth about $350,000. Police reported that the driver could only be described as a Hispanic male, and while there was security footage from the load site it was too grainy to yield much information, according to the report.

As we previously reported, this is the second incident involving falsification during a pickup where meat was stolen during transport, so distributore be aware.

The case is still under investigation by local authorities. DeliMarket News will continue to report on this story as more information comes to light.
