NEW YORK CITY
With the Summer Fancy Food Show in New York just days away, DeliMarket News understands you may need a few tips on how to spend the little time you have off outside of the convention center. Here are just a few must see locations to hit while you’re in the Big Apple.
Comedy Cellar
After a long day on the show floor, you will most definitely need a laugh. Luckily, just a quick cab ride away is the iconic New York Comedy Cellar. Known as the frequent haunt of comedians like Louis C.K., Dave Chappelle, and Amy Schumer, you must check out this piece of comedy history.
Eataly
When it comes to the Italian food New York is famous for, this array of cuisine and market experiences is a one-stop-shop. You can dine in the cafe and experience the flavors that Founder Oscar Farinetti and Creatve Partner Mario Batali intended, or shop in the market that presents what Eataly calls the “agricultural act” of eating Italian, something they feel everyone has a right to.
The Campbell Apartment
Considered one of the most glamorous places in Grand Central Terminal, The Campbell Apartment is truly a sight to behold. Formerly the office and salon of '20’s mogul John W. Campbell, this fully refurbished venue revives the lifestyle of that storied era in a one-of-a-kind way. If you’re looking for an intimate setting, unique cocktails, and some old New York splendor, Campbell's Apartment might just be the place for you.
Roberta's Pizza
Known by many as one of the hippest places in Brooklyn, Roberta's Pizza marries artisinal ingredients with quirky recipes. From the outside, the restaurant looks almost abandoned, but of course, that's part of the "cool factor." Stop by Roberta's for an authentic Brooklyn-feel and a taste of New York’s signature dish that you'll not soon forget.
The Met
If you come to New York and like art even a little bit, it's almost a crime not to visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The largest museum in the United States, the Met offers you a look at everything from ancient Egyptian artifacts, paintings and sculptures from nearly all the European masters, and an extensive collection of American, and modern art. Definitely a must-see!
Of course there are the “can’t miss” tourist locations you’ll have to stop by like Central Park and the Empire State Building, but hopefully our list offered you a little inspiration to jump off the beaten path. And even better, you may get to spend some time with the DeliMarket News team!
