After seeing 1,779 entries from 267 companies, the American Cheese Society votes are in.
Glengarry Fine Cheese’s Celtic Blue Reserve took home the coveted “Best in Show” title, according to an ACS press release. The announcement was made at the 32nd Annual ACS Conference in Providence, Rhode Island, last Friday.
“This is not only for me, but for Canada,” Margaret Peters-Morris, Owner of Glengarry Fine Cheese, said in the release. “This win is very important for the Canadian dairy industry. We have the confidence, and we can do this as well as anybody!”
LaClare Farms Specialties, LLC’s Standard Market Cave Aged Chandoka and Emmi Roth USA’s Roth’s Private Reserve (both based in Wisconsin) tied for second place overall, with third place going to Cellars at Jasper Hill of Vermont’s Harbison.
Overall, 31 U.S. states and three Canadian provinces were represented this year, with 350 ribbons awarded, including:

The ACS also hosted a “Winner’s Circle” media briefing on Saturday morning, August 1st, where ACS Judging and Competition Chair Tom Kooiman presented key highlights from the Awards Ceremony. Afterwards there was a Brunch of Champions, where those in attendance were able to sample winning cheeses, yogurts, and butters.
Next year’s 33rd Annual ACS Conference & Competition is slated for Des Moines, Iowa, from July 27th to July 30th, 2016. Congratulations to all of this year’s winners, and we look forward to next year’s event!
