January is a time for new beginnings, or so they say. One company embracing change in the new year is Kroger. The retail giant announced recently that Ashok Vemuri, CEO of Conduent, a global digital interactions company, has been elected to the company’s Board of Directors. Vemuri will be serving until Kroger’s annual shareholders meeting in June 2019, at which time he will stand for election by the shareholders.
"We are delighted to welcome Ashok to Kroger,” stated Rodney McMullen, Chairman and CEO, in a recent press release. “As we enter our second year of implementing Restock Kroger, Ashok’s deep experience leading several digital and technology services companies will be a tremendous asset to Kroger’s Board of Directors.”
Vemuri began his career with fourteen years in a variety of business and development roles at Infosys, a consulting and IT services company. From there he served as President, CEO, and board member at IGATE Corporation, a global technology and services company. Most recently Vemuri served as CEO at Conduent, having joined the company in 2016 as it was preparing for its separation from Xerox in 2017.
Coming to Kroger with a rich resume, Vemuri is a member of the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion. He additionally holds a Bachelor of Science degree from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi, and received his MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
Congratulations to Vemuri on this new role! Deli Market News will keep you posted on the comings and goings of industry executives.
