This week, 2018 James Beard Foundation (JBF) Award winners were announced, as industry leaders gathered at the event to hear who would win Best New Restaurant and Outstanding Baker, among many other categories. “Rise” was the ceremony’s theme, and the power of food and the communal spirit of chefs came together during this celebration. A highly anticipated event in the industry, attendees and participants donned pins stating what they rise for, from “equality” to “locally sourced food.”

The James Beard Awards have recognized culinary professionals for excellence and achievement in their fields since 1990. The ceremony advances JBF’s mission to celebrate, nurture, and honor chefs and other leaders making America's food culture more delicious, diverse, and sustainable for everyone.
According to a press release, all JBF Award winners receive a certificate and a medallion engraved with the James Beard Foundation Awards insignia. There are no cash prizes.
