On your marks, get set, enter! For all of you specialty food folks, entries for the Good Food Awards have officially begun. New to the categories list this years is grains, which joins previous categories like beer, charcuterie, cheese, chocolate, cider, coffee, confections, elixirs, honey, fish, oils, pantry, pickles, preserves, snacks, and spirits.
According to a press release, the judging panel consists of over 250 food crafters, grocers, chefs, and journalists. In past years, judges have included Alice Waters, Michael Pollan, Ruth Reichl, Michael Bauer, Nell Newman, Liz Prueitt, Christine Muhlke, and Paul Bertolli.
The Good Food Awards, put on by the Good Foods Foundation, is one of the only national initiatives to recognize food companies who excel not only in taste but in sustainability. The association anticipates nearly 2,000 entries from across the nation.
If you’re interested in entering, fill out a short online form at goodfoodfdn.org/awards by July 31. Then send samples for a blind tasting in September. Find more information on the most frequently asked questions here.
