Late last week, Albertsons made headlines as its C-suite leaders changed. Christine (Chris) Rupp revealed she will be leaving her position as the grocer’s Chief Customer and Digital Officer and has joined Victoria’s Secret & Co. (VS&Co) as its Chief Customer Officer.
“When I joined Albertson’s in December of 2019, I was excited about the prospect of making it easier to shop for fresh food. Little did I know that I would only have a short time to ramp up before the Pandemic hit—and it was no longer a matter of convenience, it was critical to give people more access - safely,” Rupp wrote in a LinkedIn post. “A couple of years later, we have delivered so many great experiences to our customers, I couldn’t be more proud. So it is time for me to move on to the next adventure.”
As the Albertsons Chief Customer and Digital Officer, Rupp was responsible for dramatically expanding the loyal customer base and e-commerce distribution while improving the speed and cost of delivery. Prior to joining the grocer, Rupp spent time at Microsoft and Amazon, where she led Fulfillment by Amazon and launched Amazon Prime Day.
This announcement comes after VS&Co announced a reorganization of its leadership. The clothing retailer will be rolling out a new corporate leadership structure designed to enable the execution of its strategy and fuel long-term growth goals.
Rupp is a renowned digital leader in the retail space, and she will be continuing to build on her 30-year career. According to the release, Rupp’s deep data and e-commerce expertise will become essential as she will be in charge of creating a seamless store and digital commerce business globally for VS&Co. Additionally, she will be accountable for sales and profitability across both channels.
Congratulations to Chris Rupp as she begins her next chapter!
