Retail expansion is underway as Big Y is broadening its Connecticut footprint with its newest stores is Somers and Enfield. The company’s current locations are set to reopen as Big Y Express stores on July 15, 2023.
“We are always looking to bring our customers even more, especially during these challenging times,” said Big Y President and Chief Executive Officer, Charles L. D’Amour. “We are excited to not only help our customers save on their fueling needs but also make life easier by offering quick convenience items that our customers can grab on the run.”
The first Big Y Express opened its doors in 2013 in Lee, Massachusetts, a release stated. The format includes amenities, including quick grab-and-go staples like milk, cold drinks, and snacks.
Big Y is currently hiring for management and select part-time positions at both locations. With over 10,000 employees, Big Y Foods is one of the largest independently owned supermarket chains in New England. It operates locations throughout Massachusetts and Connecticut, including supermarkets, Table & Vine Fine Wines and Liquors, and Big Y Express gas and convenience locations.
“Big Y is the perfect working environment for those seeking flexible shifts and excellent benefits,” added Meaghan Tetreault, Senior Manager, Employee Relations and Field Services for Big Y.
