Chobani recently announced the addition of two new Chiefs to its leadership roster. Last week, the company reported that Jody Macedonio will serve as Chief Financial Officer. Only yesterday, it announced the appointment of Cristina Alesci as Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, starting today. Both will report to Chobani President and COO Peter McGuinness.
"Chobani has made incredible strides in a short period of time—as a brand, there is no better place to be in food. Growth via innovation has been impressively smart and nimbly executed. I look forward to joining the team to help drive continued, strategic growth as Chobani broadens its portfolio to additional food categories," said Macedonio. "With its people-first culture, and Chobani's philosophy of investing in its employees, making more nutritious food more accessible to all and meaningful support for its communities, I'm incredibly excited and grateful to be a part of the Chobani family."
Macedonio has more than 20 years of global experience as a finance executive in the consumer goods industry, a press release noted. Most recently she served as the CFO of 8th Avenue Food & Provisions. Prior to that, she served as CFO of Dean Foods. Macedenio has led complex turnarounds, productivity initiatives, restructurings, and large-scale post acquisition integrations throughout her career.
"As we build the next generation food company, we're building the leadership team who will help us make it happen. Jody brings deep operational finance leadership experience. She has a passion for food and beverage, she loves a challenge, she's super-collaborative and very growth-driven," said McGuinness. "Michelle's new leadership role is central to our growth strategy as a modern food company. Together, Jody and Michelle are a formidable combination."
Alesci joins Chobani from CNN, where she worked as a Business and Political Correspondent. She built a career for herself delivering original reporting and analysis on breaking financial and economic news and trends. She has interviewed many of the country's leading politicians and business executives.
In her new role with Chobani, she will lead external and internal communications, government and community relations, as well as social impact and philanthropy. She will also join Chobani's Executive Leadership team.
"As the daughter of two immigrant parents who sacrificed dearly to give their children a better life, I have a special place in my heart for those who use their platform and success to make the promise of America brighter than it was yesterday," said Alesci. "Chobani is that kind of modern company—and that's why I'm joining. I'm looking forward to helping Hamdi, Peter and Chobani's incredibly passionate team continue to grow and build the next generation food company, one that makes food nutritious, delicious, and affordable for all, while helping change the world."
McGuinness continued, noting how Alesci would be an asset to the team.
"From our humble yogurt beginnings in upstate New York through our evolution and expansion into a modern food company, Chobani uses food as a force for good and helps drive positive change in communities across the country," said McGuinness. "It's important for our brand to authentically tell and share the stories that shape our values, beliefs, and business. Cristina brings over a decade of storytelling for CNN and Bloomberg TV to Chobani, highlighting our continued growth and innovation while challenging businesses and society to think and act differently, always putting humanity first."
Congratulations to both Jody Macedonio and Cristina Alesci on these new positions!
