As chilly weather encroaches on the Northern Hemisphere, nothing warms consumers like fresh-baked desserts straight from the oven. Making it easier and more environmentally friendly to enjoy delicious confections, Concord Foods, the popular provider of produce companion products, has unveiled sustainable new packaging for its lineup of beloved baking mixes to meet increased consumer demand.

In addition to their sustainability, the stand-up pouches provide retailers with greater merchandising opportunities as they can be pegged up or displayed on tables in the produce department. Stackable display cases are also available.

Samantha McCaul, Marketing Manager, Concord Foods“For increased sales, we recommend that produce departments display these mixes with the complementary fresh item. For example, the banana bread mix should be displayed on or by the banana table. Every pouch of bread mix will also sell two to three bananas” stated Samantha McCaul, Marketing Manager.

Used for the brand’s Chiquita™ Banana Bread Mix, Concord Fresh Success Blueberry Muffin Mix, and Apple Crisp Mix, the stand-up pouches require fewer materials and less energy and water to produce, making them better for the environment. Additionally, the lighter weight of the packaging saves on fuel emissions.

The Chiquita Banana Bread Mix and Blueberry Muffin Mix pouches are #2 recyclable and approved for store drop-off recycling in the U.S.

As more companies across the deli, bakery, and specialty sectors make moves toward more sustainable options to meet rising shopper demand, Deli Market News will continue to report.
