This month has felt like a fashion show of reveals for our industry, with curtains being lifted on everything from innovative flavors and packaging relaunches to whole product lines. It has been a feast for our team to cover, and one we are excited to see consumers craving for all things new and exciting in the deli corner.
Though it seemed impossible to narrow down, here are a few standouts from recent weeks that caught my eye both for industry trend-spotting and my own consumption interest!
King’s Hawaiian Original Hawaiian Sweet Soft Pretzel Bites
Our own Chandler James has sampled and assured these snacks are as good as they sound. Not only are they an interesting blend of the classic pretzel and King’s Hawaiian’s own specialty, but I can see this upping the game on party platters and charcuterie boards.
Carr Valley Cheese 2008 Vintage Cheddar
I’ll be honest, I’m one of the few that can say 2008 was a good year for me, so seeing this vintage reveal had me nostalgic and reminiscing. For those who don’t share my experience and want to recall where they were when this cheese began its aging journey, there is the victory of where you are now and how far you have come—much like the refined cheese itself. Vintage is fun in this way beyond the inherent reward of waiting for the product to be ready to indulge in. I am excited to do so, and I think consumers will as well.
The vegan lines continue to evolve and entice both traditional followers of the dietary style and those who are interested in giving it a try. Juicy Marbles’ latest launch not only broadens those offerings but provides the added twist of edible bones—a less-mess temptation for any adult, but also had me wondering if this might yet be a safe option for baby-rib-loving kids!
Bergader and Abbey Specialty Foods edelblu Blue Cheese Line
We love a good twist here at Deli Market News, especially when it comes to a staple like blue cheese. This new edelblu line introduces two products—edelblu Cubes and edelblu Cream—putting convenience at the forefront. Likewise, the company is confident its latest additions are poised to redefine the blue cheese experience. As someone who has known blue cheese to be popular but polarizing, I’m excited to see what this offering can do for the category.
Lantana Foods Rebrand and Sustainable Packaging
The world of hummus has become vast and populated for the North American market—standing out amid the options is paramount. Lantana Foods’ attractive and unique new approach to its brand accomplishes this and more with the promise of not only drawing consumer attention, but their values and loyalty with a more sustainable pack. Now fully recyclable, shoppers can purchase for the vibrant colors and return for the product.
Hostess® Halloween Line FrankenCakes
Creepy-cute is an aesthetic all its own—one Millennials and Gen Z in particular are wholeheartedly celebrating and embracing. I have seen demands for summertime Halloween (Summerween) melt into early countdowns of the holiday itself over recent weeks. Consumers are anxiously awaiting items like this to celebrate autumn with, and I have no doubt Hostess’ newest addition to its spooky holiday line will fold right into that enthusiasm.
With the holiday season around the corner, I can only imagine what is in store for us and our team’s picks in the months ahead. Stay tuned as we continue to report and reflect on the latest!
