Hormel Foods Intensifies Initiatives to Address Food Insecurity During Hunger Action Month; Jim Snee and Katie Clark Share

In a bold move to combat food insecurity, Hormel Foods has donated over $450,000 to nonprofit partners throughout September in recognition of Hunger Action Month. This initiative underscores the company’s dedication to fostering a food-secure world.

"This Hunger Action Month, we did just that through financial support, product donations, and by rolling up our sleeves and giving back to the communities where we live and work."

Hormel partnered with United Way of Mower County and the Hometown Food Security Project, engaging Austin High School students to improve local food security. The students assembled 24,000 snack packs to ensure that peers participating in after-school activities had access to nutritious snacks. Additional packs were distributed to local food shelves and organizations.

Hormel Foods donated over $450,000 to nonprofit partners throughout September in recognition of Hunger Action MonthFor the 14th consecutive year, Hormel granted each of its production facilities $10,000 to donate to hunger relief organizations in their communities. This initiative reached 45 organizations and benefited families across the United States.

Hormel also hosted a Hometown Celebration Concert, encouraging attendees to support food security initiatives through donations. The company matched contributions, with all funds benefiting local food banks in Mower County.

In 2023, Hormel Foods contributed $12.5 million in monetary and product donations, including $10 million dedicated to hunger relief efforts, equating to over nine million individual meals. These initiatives align with Hormel's 20 By 30 Challenge goals to deliver 70 million meals and create a food-secure community program by 2030.
