For folks on the Winter Fancy Food Show floor, there’s one company you need to see. Klondike Cheese Company continues to impress with new additions to its lineup, this time bringing Odyssey® Labneh to market.
“Our Labneh is thick, creamy, and rich with flavor using only quality Wisconsin cow’s milk. It can be enjoyed in many ways, served as a savory side, or combined with honey for a sweet treat,” remarked Teena Buholzer, Marketing Director. “Odyssey Labneh is versatile and can be enjoyed in various ways. It pairs well with fresh vegetables, breads, and crackers and is commonly used as a dip or spread.”
The word "labneh" is derived from the Arabic word "laban," which means "milk." Labneh is made by straining the whey out of yogurt, leaving behind a thick, creamy spreadable product. Labneh has a soft, cream cheese-like texture and can accompany many different dishes.
An ancient food of the Middle East and the Mediterranean, Labneh is a staple in many foods and is an important source of protein, calcium, and has gut-healthy probiotics.
“Not only is our Odyssey Labneh delicious, but it is also considered a healthy food. Compared to other cheese or packaged dips, Odyssey Labneh is lower in fat and sodium and adds a lot of calcium,” Teena added.
