We recently learned that two silver medals were earned for Paysan Breton Butter and Madame Loïk Whipped Spread at the Concours International de Lyon. One of the awards is a new silver medal for the Moulded Butter with Guérande Salt Crystals, following its award at the Concours Général Agricole 2024.

Gildas Cochennec, Export Director, Laïta“This delicious Paysan Breton Traditional Butter is produced in Landerneau, in Brittany, a French region known for its dairy tradition and expertise, especially in butter making. This butter is keeping the tradition alive with its oval shape, paying tribute to the wooden molds once used to shape the butter in Brittany,” said Gildas Cochennec, Export Director at Laïta.

In addition to its specific shape and taste, this butter is characterized by crunchy Sea Salt Crystals from Guérande, a Protected Geographical Indication with a precise set of specifications. Paysan Breton is the leader brand on the Traditional Butter category in France, and the second brand on the total market of butter, according to the company.

Paysan Breton is a French cooperative brand, created by, managed by, and in the interest of dairy farmers, since 1969. This butter can be found in Shoprite locations on the East Coast and in independent retailers in the Pacific Northwest.

The second product awarded at the event was the Le Fromage Fouetté Madame Loïk Whipped Fresh Cheese with garlic and fresh herbs.

“This product is a delicious premium whipped cheese with a unique and unmatchable airy texture. It is produced in Créhen, a little town nearby the sea in Côtes d’Armor, in Brittany. The cheese features an incredibly fresh taste, enhanced by a touch of garlic and herbs originated from France,” Gildas continued.

There are endless possible ways to use the product—simply spread on bread or crackers or used in both sweet and savory recipes. Madame Loïk Whipped Cheese is a French success story; born in 1997, it is now the second French brand in the fresh cheese market. We offer our congratulations to Laïta on these incredible wins!
