New York is the prime state for expansion, at least for Lidl. The retail chain is bolstering its foothold in the United States with a new store in Yonkers.
According to The Yonkers Ledger, the grocer proposed a new store location in the Central Plaza Shopping Center at 2550 Central Park Ave. Lidl aims to create a 29,208-square-foot supermarket by combining smaller stores within the shopping center, continued the source. The expansion is expected to bring increased grocery shopping opportunities, as well as more employment opportunities, to the region.
The Germany-based discount grocer currently operates stores in 32 countries, employing over 341,000 people. With its U.S. operations headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, the company continues to seek out Stateside growth.
