It’s only been a short time since Lidl made the jump across the pond to overtake the U.S. market. But aggressive expansion and a positive consumer reception have fueled the retailer forward, and now it is marking its 100th Stateside location as it plans an opening for Suwanee, Georgia.
“Next week’s opening represents an important milestone in our mission to deliver outstanding quality products at the lowest possible prices to our customers in the United States,” Roman Heini, Chairman of Lidl US, remarked in a press release. “We plan to continue to build new stores, ramp up our hiring efforts, and expand our network of distribution centers to reach even more customers in the years ahead. We look forward to forging new and strong relationships with everyone who helps make our journey possible.”
Johannes Fieber, President and CEO, Lidl US, took time to acknowledge the team that has brought the brand this far and set it up to move even further.
“We are immensely proud of the Lidl US team, who has accomplished a tremendous amount in a few short years to bring us to this point,” said Fieber. “The entire team is working hard to provide high-quality, fresh products to our shoppers, and we see how important this is every day during this time of unprecedented need. Our team cannot wait to serve the community in Suwanee and continue to open new stores in the U.S.”
It is with a vivid memory we look to the retailer’s rapid-fire expansion up the East Coast, not the least of which was it having acquired 27 Best Market stores as it sought to nab more market share in New York’s Long Island in May of 2018. A year later, Lidl developed a growth plan that included the opening of 25 stores in the states of Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Virginia.
Finally, in March of this year, Lidl added another distribution center to its portfolio, further expanding its capabilities to provide to existing and potential customers.
