After the difficulty of the last few years, the California Artisan Cheese Festival is ready to shine a spotlight on the hardworking cheesemakers that bring all of us joy in the form of delicious, high-quality cheese. 2023 will mark the 17th year of the event, which will take place March 24–26 at the Marketplace at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds. As excitement ramps up, the organization announced that tickets are now on sale and has also released the event lineup.
“We are incredibly fortunate to be able to offer support and recognition for our amazing local cheesemaking community with the return of the California Artisan Cheese Festival, which has become one of the country’s most anticipated annual events for cheese lovers and foodies,” said Judy Groverman Walker, Event Producer for the California Artisan Cheese Festival. “And because of the tough circumstances over the last few years, we are extremely grateful that we can come back and give folks the opportunity to safely attend three days of beloved events while supporting California farmers and cheesemakers who have had a tough go of it throughout he pandemic.”
The three-day festival will feature cheese tasting, education, and celebration, as it brings together artisan cheesemakers, farmers, chefs, brewers, winemakers, distillers, and cheese enthusiasts all in one place. According to a release, throughout the weekend, attendees will get to experience new, limited production, and rare artisan cheeses all while learning about the cheesemaking process and supporting California farmers and cheese producers.
This year’s public events include farm and producer tours, cheese tastings, pairings, educational seminars and demonstrations, and the Sunday Marketplace. Not to mention, a Cheese Crawl at The Barlow, where attendees will take part in a walk-around cheese tasting, sampling cheeses and pairings with local beverages and appetizers.
