With Cinco de Mayo fast approaching, brands are getting creative with their in-store merchandising to cash in on increased demand. In preparation for the holiday, Mission Foods® has teamed up with Avocados From Mexico™ (AFM) and Modelo® to inspire shoppers to have their own CincOMG-worthy celebrations.
"Cinco de Mayo represents a great opportunity to showcase the essence and origin of Avocados From Mexico—the spirit of Mexicanity," said Stephanie Bazan, Vice President of Shopper and Trade Marketing at Avocados From Mexico. "It's important for us to connect with shoppers as they get ready to celebrate this holiday with friends and family. And by partnering with perfect avocado pairings like Mission chips and tortillas and Modelo beer, we're making it convenient for shoppers to find all the essentials they need for Cinco parties."
Over the last five years, avocado consumption in the first four weeks leading up to Cinco de Mayo has grown 27 percent, a press release explained. Capitalizing on this rising trend, the three popular brands have created fun in-store displays and announced consumer savings, sweepstakes, and digital and social activations to inspire shoppers. The new program launched April 11 and will run through May 9, 2022.
This partnership with Mission and Modelo will help retailers turn their aisles into Cinco de Mayo destinations by combining the three items central to celebrating the holiday; shoppers double their basket spend when buying chips and avocados. They also spend 1.7x more when buying beer and avocados, compared to when avocados are not in the basket, so make sure to get in on this program while the iron is hot.
