Both consumers and retailers look to the future of the planet when making buying decisions. The appeal of plant-based products has yet to wane, and companies like Prime Roots are using this momentum to expand the potential of plant-based. Our first stop? The deli case.
“We are excited to be pioneering in plant-based deli meats that are freshly sliced at the deli,” Kimberlie Le, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, began. “Prime Roots' products stand out in the market due to their unique combination of flavor, sustainability, and nutritional value. Our plant-based deli meats and charcuterie are crafted using koji mycelium, replicating the umami taste and texture of meat without compromising on taste or quality. We differentiate ourselves by offering clean, wholesome, and sustainable alternatives to conventional deli meats, free from nitrates, preservatives, hormones, and GMOs.”
Kimberlie emphasized that Prime Roots’ products cater to a wide range of dietary preferences, which makes them inclusive and appealing to a diverse consumer base. Shoppers who might previously have strayed from deli offerings for lack of options are now being driven right back to that department, all thanks to Prime Roots.
“We also have a robust program for our retail or foodservice partners that enables them to easily integrate Prime Roots into their store—whether it be operational support, culinary support, integration support, training, consumer education, and marketing—we are a turnkey solution to adding plant-based options into the deli,” she added.
Being that turn-key solution is critical; retailers are already juggling numerous departments and SKUs and want supply-side partners who can offer support—especially if adding plant-based items to your deli case is new!
As the company continues to grow, Kimberlie is still hungry for expansion opportunities.
“Looking ahead, Prime Roots is excited to expand nationwide in retail deli counters and foodservice. We recently launched at EarthFare Markets with our entire deli lineup and expanded our reach to the Southeast. Overall, we’ve seen tremendous growth coast to coast,” Kimberlie said. “We have exciting new partnerships like our paté lineup in partnership with the Three Little Pigs and Fabrique Delices. Delighting consumers, meat eaters, and vegetarians alike is part of our culture, and we’re glad to provide an option that adds innovation and excitement to an important category.”
