Florida marks the region of focus for Publix’s most recent expansion plan, as it was recently unveiled that the retailer purchased two shopping centers in South Florida. The two strategically located stores were purchased for a combined $83 million.
Among the newly acquired plots was the Davie Shopping Center, which was purchased for $50.7 million, or $444 per square foot, The Real Deal reported. The second transaction was for the Regency Square Shopping Plaza, which Publix purchased for $32 million, or $304 per square foot.
As the news source went on to note, this acquisition builds on Publix’s ongoing streak in recent years. Including these two most recent deals, the retailer has invested a combined $220 million in South Florida retail properties since 2021.
With all of this momentum, we are left to wonder whether Publix has plans for more South Florida acquisitions in the coming months.
Deli Market News will continue to track the retailer’s accelerated growth, so be on the lookout for more updates.
