Holiday-themed promotions abound during this time of year, but have you ever heard of a robotic reindeer bringing you food? Uber Eats brought exactly this innovation to life earlier this month.
“This December, we’re spreading some holiday cheer by dressing up delivery robots as reindeer,” said Noah Zych, Global Head of Autonomous Mobility and Delivery at Uber. “If you’re in Los Angeles, Miami, or Fairfax, we’ll be making spirits bright with Cartken and Serve robot reindeer, who will be delivering food all month long.”
A report from Fox Business explained that the robots are dressed with bright red noses and stuffed antlers, and will make their deliveries until the end of December.
As Zych noted in his statement, this holiday-themed promotion is made possible due to the partnerships with delivery robot providers Cartken and Serve Robotics.
It might seem gimmicky but it’s a strategy that turns heads and gets people talking. Will Uber Eats bring more themed robots to the market? We’ll keep a lookout.
