Schaller & Weber was founded in 1937 by my grandfather Ferdinand Schaller. We've had this store on the Upper East Side since we started the company. This was a very prominent German neighborhood and one of the beauties of it is the store has not really changed in almost 100 years. We try to leave it to look like an old traditional butcher shop, especially what you find in Europe. We have a lot of imported stuff that we bring in here from Europe, and we make a lot of our own products. We're always expanding on that range, but we like to keep our traditional roots as one of the highest quality German style manufacturers there is in America.

So, we brought some of our best selling traditional deli products into sliced-form. We have five items that we launched about a year ago. Our best-selling one is our French bistro ham. We also do our golden brown turkey, smoked turkey, black forest ham, and our Bologna. Our French bistro ham is our best seller. People are using it a lot for foodservice as well as in hotels and restaurants—and now they're able to have some in sliced form.

Schaller & Weber prides itself on being a well-rounded company offering multiple product lines across categoriesThis store on Second Avenue is where we started as a company, but shortly after, we outgrew that; and actually we built our own plant in Queens, and we started manufacturing to sell to retail all across America. We really started focusing on retail products. We transitioned to making a full line of CPG and other retail products, grab-and-go items, shelf-stable items that customers are definitely looking for. That right now is the lion’s share of the business for the brand.

One of my favorite products that we make is our Landerjagers. We've had the same recipe since we started in 1937. They're a German Austrian meat stick made with high-quality hickory smoke, and they're just a quick snack of protein. It's the OG meat stick.

Schaller & Weber keeps to its traditional roots as a high-quality German style manufacturer We started this company to be a German-focused company, which we still do being almost a 90-year-old deli company. We've expanded the range of our deli products to Pastramis, French Bistro Hams, and other products that just really round out what a true New York style deli is, and we fill every gap of that.
