It’s no secret that bacon is beloved in the United States, but Smithfield Culinary went a step further to confirm. According to its new Guest Check survey, diners' passion for the protein is undeniable—meaning opportunities abound for foodservice operators to capitalize on this enthusiasm.
"Bacon is one of those foods that has a cult-like following, but this new data gives operators valuable insights to innovate their menus and enhance their communication with customers about their food preferences," said Edward Wayda, Marketing Director. "At Smithfield, we simplify the process for operators to meet customer cravings by offering a diverse selection of bacon products, ranging from fully cooked strips, chips, and bits to ready-to-cook solutions. With a variety of options, bacon lovers will keep coming back for more."
A few key insights from the survey include the following.
For many diners, bacon is a craveable component that can elevate a meal from ordinary to extraordinary. According to the release, more than 71 percent of diners participating in the survey said that "everything tastes better with bacon." A whopping 57 percent of diners declare they'd eat bacon every day if they could.
And when eating out, over half of diners (55 percent) expressed the fact that they can’t resist the temptation of bacon when dining out.
With these sort of numbers, it’s hard to deny the pull that bacon has on American diners—and I can’t wait to see what next-generation bacon dishes this brings!
