The Specialty Food Association Announces 2021 sofi Award Winners

Friday, May 7th, 2021

We may still be waiting for the return of in-person socializing at the trade shows we know and love, but that won’t stop our industry from innovating and bringing the best to the forefront. The Specialty Food Association (SFA) is bringing a cornucopia of good news as it recently announced the 2021 sofi Awards. This year, 130 specialty food products have been chosen to receive the industry’s coveted Gold, Silver, and New Product Awards in 49 food categories.

Laura Lozada, Vice President of Membership, Specialty Food Association“The sofi Awards have been recognizing the best of the best in the specialty food industry since 1972,” said Laura Lozada, Vice President of Membership. “We are so proud of our members and their perseverance during this difficult time. They continue to innovate and grow and are the foundation of our industry. The SFA is honored to recognize their creativity and the quality of their products.”

According to the release, the sofi Awards opened March 1 and resulted in nearly 1,500 products from around the world pouring into SFA’s partner, the Food Innovation Center (FIC) at Rutgers University, for the awards. Through anonymous tastings, FIC experts evaluated products ranging from Cocktail Mixes & Mocktails to Yogurt and Kefir. A detailed process assessed entrants for their flavor, appearance, texture, aroma, ingredient quality, and innovation.
