Subway is once again raising the bar for sandwiches. Bringing a strategic shakeup to its United States restaurants, the operator has rolled out freshly sliced meats to improve its menu and consumer experience. The freshly sliced meats are showcased across a major expansion of the Subway Series menu, with four new additions joining the lineup.
"Over the past two years, we overhauled our expansive pantry of ingredients and debuted a whole new way to Subway with chef-crafted signature sandwiches. These major changes led to rave reviews from our guests and record-breaking sales," said Trevor Haynes, President, North America at Subway. "This year's changes are even bigger and more transformational. The addition of freshly sliced meats is the most impactful yet as it gives our guests a better sandwich—raising the bar even higher for the brand that defined fresh. We can't wait for America to taste the difference and see how far we have come on our journey."
According to a press release, Subway spent over two years preparing for the debut of freshly sliced meats in its U.S. restaurants, enacting one of the most complex changes the brand has ever made. This change includes an $80 million investment in deli meat slicers, which have been installed in 20,000 restaurants.
To spotlight this fresh-forward offering, Subway has introduced a new menu category called Deli Heroes, a collection of the ultimate deli subs. The authentic, deli-style sandwiches come in the following varieties:
