If you haven’t heard of Popeyes’ iconic chicken sandwich, then you’ve most likely been living under a rock. In other words, consumers are going coocoo for crispy chicken. While many fast food chains have followed suit, Taco Bell gave its version of the trend a competitive edge. The company's new Crispy Tortilla Chicken can be wrapped up in a soft tortilla or dunked directly into a dipping sauce. Either way, consumers are enthralled by the tortilla-crusted concept.
According to CNN Business, Taco Bell’s new menu item is one of very few that is not bolstered by a “Supreme” title. And while the chain still refuses to commandeer a traditional top-and-bottom sandwich bread option, its Crispy Tortilla Chicken is still positioned as a contender in the chicken sandwich category.
