Tillamook Earns Five American Cheese Society Judging and Competition Awards

Award news is rolling in from across the cheese sector on the heels of the recent American Cheese Society (ACS) Judging and Competition, and Tillamook County Creamery Association is among the cheesemakers celebrating its wins.

One of the largest events of its kind for American-made cheeses, this year, the competition received 1,454 entries across 120 categories, a release explained. Of those entries, the association awarded 370 medals, with Tillamook the recipient of five of them.

Honored for its talents, cheesemaking skills, and commitment to food safety, Tillmook’s awards include:

• 1^st Place EA: Aged Cheddar – aged 13 months through 23 months – all milks - Tillamook Extra Sharp White Cheddar
• 2^nd Place LD: Smoked Cheddars – all milks Tillamook Hickory Smoked Cheddar
• 3^rd Place LD: Smoked Cheddars – all milks Tillamook Hickory Smoked Extra Sharp White Cheddar
• 3^rd Place EF: Sweet Cheddar – commonly made by including Lb. helveticus adjunct culture - all milks, all ages Tillamook English Style Sweet Cheddar
• 3^rd Place CJ: Monterey Jack – made from cow’s milk Tillamook Monterey Jack
