While the time warp of the last year and a half might make it hard to believe, the holidays are once again rolling around, creating the inevitable spike in consumer demand at retail. As supply chain hurdles have continued, leading to issues for buyers and suppliers, Walmart has launched a new holiday strategy to mitigate seasonal challenges. Through expanded store hours, new delivery windows for shoppers, and a growing list of delivery-eligible items, the chain is looking to stay ahead of the game.

Tom Ward, Senior Vice President, Last Mile, Walmart U.S.“Drivers will be making deliveries from stores to doors until 10 p.m. local time. This allows customers to place orders up to 6 p.m. for same-day or next-day deliveries,” said Tom Ward, Senior Vice President of Last Mile, in a company release.

With extra time in the day to get their groceries, consumers will also have greater windows of availability, which will be crucial as demand continues to rise.

“We’re adding even more delivery time frames to place an order for local delivery. This is made possible by a new feature on the Spark Driver app,” Ward continued. “The feature, called Shopping and Delivery, gives service providers the option to shop and deliver customers’ orders. So, if existing delivery time frames are full, we can continue offering customers the delivery times they need.”

Doubling down on this holiday strategy, Walmart has also expanded its selection of products offered for delivery.

As shoppers storm the aisles with their holiday lists in hand, one thing is certain—Walmart will be ready.
