With its latest promotion, Weis Markets is boosting its talent acquisition efforts and workforce support. Recently, upon news of Bob Cline’s retirement, the retailer named Mike Umstead as the new Vice President of Talent Development and Associate Relations.
Umstead began his career at Weis 24 years ago as a part-time front-end associate, a release explained. Throughout his time with the grocer, he has served as a Store Manager, HR Talent Manager, District Manager, and Director of Associate Relations.
In his new role, Umstead will oversee talent and organization development, succession management, associate relations and engagement, career development programs, and human resources policies and practices. He will report to Jim Marcil, Senior Vice President, Human Resources.
The leader earned his bachelor’s degree in marketing from Penn State University, the release noted.
