Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association Prepares for CheeseCon 2023 Auction; John Umhoefer Shares

Attendees of the upcoming CheeseCon 2023, get your bidding paddles ready and your arms stretched, because the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association (WCMA) is preparing to auction off some of the best cheeses in the country at the Chr. Hansen Reception & Championship Cheese Auction. Taking place on April 5, the event’s proceeds will support dairy processing scholarship and educational programs for the organization.

This year’s Championship Cheese Auction will feature gold medal cheeses from the 2023 United States Championship Cheese Contest®, a release stated. For more than 25 years, the auction’s proceeds have supported emerging dairy professionals with scholarships to help advance their education and build their careers, giving bidders more incentive to raise their paddles.

Additionally, auction dollars have helped fund WCMA’s training programs for dairy manufacturers and suppliers as well as build the new Center for Dairy Research facility in Madison, Wisconsin, and dairy pilot plants at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and South Dakota State University.

Registration for CheeseCon, set for April 4–6 in Madison, Wisconsin, includes access to over 300 supplier exhibits on Wednesday, April 5, as well as two full days of educational seminars led by dairy processing experts, networking opportunities, and celebrations of cheese industry excellence.
