In what could only have been dreamed up in the twisted fantasies of Homer Simpson, the world now has a little more to smile about—Doughnut-infused beer. One brave brewery by the name of Against the Grain did just what their name suggested, and is now bringing us what it’s calling its, “Mmm…D’oh! Nuts” brew.
This beer isn’t just for Simpsons-enthusiasts like myself, however. Against the Grain’s fried dough flavored innovation has enough unique taste packed in to capture the heart’s of both sweets and beer lovers alike, it seems.

“First, we smoked the hell out of some Pale malt with Birch, Maple, and Oak woods,” the brewery explained in a press release. “Then, added some Munich malts for a 'doughy' character along with some of those delicious Hi-Five Doughnuts right into the mash. Lactose, brown sugar, and a gallon of their vanilla glaze created an ooey gooey sweetness.”
To top of this masterpiece concoction, the brewery tosses in a special blend of spices and smoked vanilla, creating a smoky and sweet root beer-esque flavor, but with the punch of 6.7 percent alcohol by volume.
Want to get to the bottom of a glass of Mmm…D’oh! Nuts yourself? Against the Grain is hosting a tasting event at 6:00 PM on February 24, at its Louisville, KY, brick and mortar location.
