Bimbo Bakeries Bringing Distribution Center to New Jersey

Wednesday, October 4th, 2017

New Jersey's Burlington Township is welcoming a Bimbo Bakeries distribution center. The 17,700-square-foot distribution center will be built at a former trucking terminal, previously occupied by Land Air Express, in an industrial park.

"We're taking a dilapidated trucking terminal and turning into a state-of-the-art facility that should become operational later this month," said Brian Tait, Project Developer for B. Tait Builders of Pennsauken. Tait also said subcontractors are currently modifying the loading docks to accommodate smaller trucks and making interior changes in the warehouse and offices.

Opening in 1994 after branching off from one of the world’s largest baking company, Mexico-based Grupo Bimbo, Bimbo Bakeries USA has grown to be one of the U.S.’s largest baking company after acquiring many household grocery name-brands since 2002. Today, Bimbo operates more than 60 bakeries, employs over 22,000 associates, and distributes across 11,000 sales routes throughout the U.S., according to NJ.com.

This project is expected to be completed in November and will primarily distribute products made in the Horsham, Pennslylvania factory, according to the report.
