Bimbo Bakeries USA has announced further consolidation, with plans to shutter its Lubbock, Texas location in early January of 2017.
This announcement comes just a few months after the company announced that it will be closing its bakery operations in Hastings, Nebraska.
"Making the decision to close a facility is never an easy one," said Wayne Sager, Bimbo Bakeries USA's Vice President of Region Operations, according to news source KCBD. "After careful analysis and consideration, we determined it is most efficient to redistribute production to another bakery in our system to better meet market demand."
The production for the Lubbock bakery in question will be shifted to Rockwall, Texas, upon the closure. The company noted that representatives from Human Resources will meet with affected associates and union representatives to discuss severance and other benefits, as well as resources to assist associates. The location employs about 75 workers.
"We truly value and respect our dedicated associates at the Lubbock bakery and will assist them throughout the transition," said Sager, according to the report.
While the location bakes bread and buns, the company said that availability of its products will not be affected by the move.
