California Lavash Gears Up for Winter Fancy Food Show 2019

GILROY, CA
Monday, January 7th, 2019

The Winter Fancy Food Show is less than a week away, and we here at Deli Market News can already feel the excitement. One company that is especially excited to strut its stuff is California Lavash, a family-run California-based bakery with an emphasis on clean label commercial breads and simple ingredients.

Lilea Eshoo, Director of Marketing and Sales, California Lavash

“At California Lavash, bread means everything,” said Lilea Eshoo, Director of Marketing and Sales. “It’s our passion. It’s our joy. And it’s our family tradition. We craft our breads the way our family has for generations using the same techniques, the highest-quality ingredients, and a true love for making the most delicious bread possible. With today’s emphasis on healthy, natural products, people want to eat real food, and our flatbreads are real bread that people can feel good about eating.”

Founded more than 25 years ago by Lilea and Inanna Eshoo’s parents to bring back the bread of their youth, California Lavash remains a family affair today as the company continues to bake bread using recipes and techniques that have been passed down through the generations.

“We craft our bread the same way it has been made for generations. It’s an authentic connection to the ancient cultures where these types of breads were first baked and eaten,” said Inanna Eshoo, Head of Foodservice.

The company notes in a press release that while it is connected to these ancient cultures, it is not restricted by them. Instead, California Lavash's bread encourages culinary fusion in a way that’s synonymous with California culture and cuisine.

According to a press release, 58 percent of women and 46 percent of men say they plan to make healthier choices, with an additional 73 percent of consumers saying they would pay more for a product with fully transparent attributes. With this in mind, California Lavash places emphasis on only baking with ingredients like unbleached wheat flour, filtered water, oat fiber, sea salt, yeast, canola oil, and cultured whole wheat. And, unlike other flatbreads in the game, California Lavash’s line of flatbreads are Non-GMO Project Verified, vegan, kosher/halal, and contain no artificial preservatives, chemicals, nor dough conditioners and gums. The flatbreads come in the following varieties and flavors:

  • Lavash: Traditional, Whole Grain, Garlic & Herb, Spinach
  • Naan: Traditional, 100% Whole Grain, Garlic
  • Pita: Traditional, Whole Grain
