The 24th Annual Cake Decorating Competition has been announced by IDDBA. The company is encouraging any supermarket decorator who is ready to frost their heart out to apply for this year’s competition, held in Orlando, Florida, from June 2-4th next year.
2018 Competitor Natasha Damm is quoted in the competition entry information saying, “It's been a real honor and an awesome experience. I would definitely recommend it to any decorator. Whether you've been decorating a year or 25 years, it doesn't matter.”
Decorators who are interested should send a portfolio of work including 3-5 pictures of each of the following cakes by February 14th, 2019:
The selection committee claims in the IDDBA entry form to look for “creativity, use of color, consistent edging and lettering, variety of technique, use of multiple mediums, and neatness” of the cakes in each applicants portfolio.
Three competitors will be selected, and receive an all expenses paid trip to the competition. During the event itself, the three decorators will fill an 8’ bakery case, make a tiered wedding cake, craft a cake for tasting with a unique flavor profile, and create a custom-design themed cake, and store level sheet cake.
Deli Market News looks forward to the competition this year and wishes all applicants the best of luck in qualifying.
