With a new year comes a new expansion for snack food company J&J Snack Foods Corp. The buy-side provider recently announced the new acquisition of a premium bakery, Hill & Valley Inc.
“We are excited to add Hill & Valley to our team,” said Jerry Law, Senior Vice-President of J&J Snack Foods. “This acquisition rounds out our in-store bakery offerings by expanding our capabilities and customer base, and provides us a newly constructed facility that has ample capacity for growth and a nimble production process.”
According to BakingBusiness.com, the deals of the acquisition were not disclosed. However, Hill & Valley achieves annual sales of its products exceeding $45 million. The Illinois-based company makes a number of pre-baked cakes, cookies, pies, muffins, and other desserts for in-store bakeries.
“We at Hill & Valley are very excited to become part of the J&J family,” stated President of Hill & Valley Doug Davidson. “J&J brings substantial resources to Hill & Valley on all levels that will continue to make us a valued added supplier to our customers and a company that brings solutions to the table.”
Hill & Valley was founded in 1987 as Rock Island Baking Co., then later renamed to Nancy’s Pies. The business was sold in 2006, prompting its name change to the moniker known today.
Hill & Valley is also part of numerous strategic private labeling partnerships with retail companies nationwide.
