British artisan bakery Peter’s Yard has won a sofi™ New Product Award for the company’s Pink Peppercorn Sourdough crispbread.

The Specialty Food Association bestowed the award for excellence in the Cracker category as part of its 2017 sofi Awards competition. In its press release, the company noted that the award is a top honor in the $127 billion specialty food industry. The award’s name stands for “Specialty Outstanding Food Innovation,” and winners represent the best of the best from members of the Specialty Food Association.
The Pink Peppercorn Sourdough Crispbread was one of 154 Winners selected by a panel of 62 specialty food experts from across the nation. Winners were selected from 3,000 entries across 39 categories, with each entry carefully assessed by food professionals including chefs, culinary experts, academics, food writers, and category buyers. Products are judged on taste, ingredient quality, and innovation.
“A sofi means a product, and the people behind it, have arrived,” noted Phil Kafarakis, President of the Specialty Food Association. “This year’s winners represent a devotion to excellence and innovation in specialty food that continues to fuel our industry, excite consumers, and expand retail offerings around the world.”
Peter’s Yard products are currently available through World’s Best Cheese, Tony’s Fine Foods, and specialist cheese stores. The company will be first-time exhibitors at the Summer Fancy Food Show, Lower Level Booth #5769; participate in the sofi Showcase on June 26th, 2017; and will be hosting a tasting session at Chelsea Market Baskets at 75 Ninth Ave, New York NY 10011 on June 24th.
