Ahold Delhaize is kicking up a storm of developments in the retail landscape. Amid announcing over $21B in group net sales and the conversion of its recently acquired stores, the retail chain is also looking to boost its leadership team. Recently, Ahold announced Dave Bass to the position of Managing Director of FreshDirect.
“FreshDirect is a truly unique brand, working directly with local suppliers, growers, and farmers to deliver the freshest and best-tasting products directly to people’s doorsteps,” Bass said. “I look forward to working with the team and helping FreshDirect grow its leading customer service and high-quality assortment to customers in the greater New York City area.”
Bass brings 13 years of grocery and retail experience to the table. According to his LinkedIn, Bass started working for Hannaford Bros. in 2008 before stepping into the Delhaize America company and transitioning to Food Lion, Retail Business Services, and Peapod Digital Labs throughout his career.
As stated in the release, Bass will be taking on his new position from Farhan Siddiqi, the current Chief Digital Officer of Ahold Delhaize. Siddiqi has additionally served as FreshDirect’s interim Chief Executive Officer. David McInerney, the company’s previous CEO, announced his departure from his position effective May 5. Alongside his responsibilities, Siddiqi also is a current Board Member for FreshDirect.
