Will there ever be a time when we aren’t reporting on Amazon expanding? With the addition of $89 billion worth of expansion across competitive markets, it seems unlikely. And the retail giant is leading even more strategic expansions in the form of new distribution centers (DC) in Colorado Springs, Colorado; Long Island, New York; and Whitsett, North Carolina.
According to a report from The Gazette, the facility in Colorado Springs will most likely be the largest in the state. This structure, standing at 3.7 million square feet, is scheduled for completion sometime next year.
The Shirley, Long Island, distribution center will represent the company’s third facility in the area, according to Long Island Business News, helping Amazon make those “last mile” deliveries to consumers in the area. It will stand at 110,658 square feet.
The facility in Whitsett, North Carolina, part of a region that locals call The Triad, is rumored to be in talks with Amazon, although news source WFMY News 2 could not specify which major retailer has—or will—snap up the site. If Amazon is to purchase this center, it will represent the company’s third in the area.
As new facilities continue to crop up for Amazon, Deli Market News will be on the lookout for even more expansion.
