Two Amazon-sized footprints have stamped the midwest as the retailer recently revealed its newest brick-and-mortar locations. Expanding its Amazon Fresh banner, the company is opening its doors in Franconia, Virginia, and has confirmed another new store in Chevy Chase, Maryland.
The recent openings come closely after Amazon announced it will be rebranding its Amazon Go Grocery format as Amazon Fresh. The Amazon Fresh format is known for innovative design concepts and tech-centered conveniences such as Just Walk Out, making the consumer shopping experience different than traditional grocery stores. The cutting-edge advancements are tied to the consumer’s Amazon account, and each product is monitored from the shelf to the cart, allowing shoppers to walk in and walk out without having to go through the checkout stand.
As Amazon Fresh opens its doors in Franconia, Virginia, for the first time, the retailer will be welcoming shoppers to its newest confirmed location in Chevy Chase, Maryland. No information is available yet on the new Maryland site, but both locations are currently hiring hundreds of new employees. According to the news source, Amazon is also opening grocery stores in Potomac Yard in Northern Virginia and Baileys Crossroads, both in the Alexandria area.
