A collaboration of spicy proportions has emerged on the scene as Burlap & Barrel has teamed up with Ghetto Gastro. The two spice savants have recently launched a heady new blend: Smoke ‘N’ Herb.
“Inviting Burlap & Barrel to the rotation on Smoke ‘N’ Herb was an easy choice,” Ghetto Gastro commented. “We’re aligned when it comes to ending exploitation in food systems and beyond, plus the quality of their single-origin spices is top-tier. We set out to create a blend of whole spices that felt both complex and effortless, with layers of herbs, spice, and everything nice. Stease the day and keep grinding the GG way.”
Single-origin spice purveyor Burlap & Barrel sources its spice collection directly from smallholder farmers around the world. This collaboration brings a floral, tropical, all-purpose blend right to consumers’ pantries.
As noted in the release, the mixture is composed of salt, white and black pepper, herbs, and smoky chipotle chilis. It’s a flavor to be treasured, with top notes of mint and fennel, umami in the middle, and a funky finish. Shoppers can use it in rubs and marinades, or grind it fresh over meats, vegetables, or grains as a finishing touch.
Grinder jars retail for $11.99 and are available for national shipping and at select specialty food retailers.
