As a trade news writer in the food industry, it’s common to come across news that makes my mouth water. When I recently found out that C.H. Guenther & Son was expanding the Tribeca Oven portfolio with the addition of its Olive Oil Panino and updated Focaccia line, not only were my taste buds intrigued, but my mind filled with questions, and I had to find out all of the details behind these enticing new delicacies.
“We were eager to introduce the Olive Oil Panino and the rest of our updated focaccia line this past spring,” Erica Elliott, Senior Marketing Manager, begins telling me. “The Olive Oil Panino is an entirely new sandwich carrier that was crafted with menu versatility in mind. We also updated our Focaccia and Herb Focaccia. Our research and development team really focused on creating a cloud-like crumb for both products, and we removed the brushed oil from both products to allow for more menu flexibility—whether in the deli, prepared foods, or with a customer in the bakery.”
The Olive Oil Panino is a 60-count sandwich carrier made with focaccia dough for a light and airy interior that features a dimpled top. The Herb Focaccia is crafted with a flavorful blend of marjoram, thyme, and sage, and both the Focaccia and Herb Focaccia are available as a ¼ sheet and 14 pack.
“With all of the changes that have taken place in the past year, we’ve taken a measured approach to introducing this to retailers, but are excited to launch these items in retail throughout the winter and spring,” Erica adds.
This strategic portfolio expansion presents the supplier’s partners with a chance to fulfill a rising demand within the bakery sector while diversifying the category with attention-grabbing new offerings.
“We saw a real gap in the market for a focaccia-based sandwich carrier that would be able to transition between dayparts as well as reinvigorate the roll category,” Erica points out. “We recognized that consumers need to be able to do more with a smaller variety of products right now, and we wanted to acknowledge that need and create a new sandwich carrier and updated focaccia line that exceeded expectations.”
Further bolstering its robust lineup, C.H. Guenther & Son also recently launched two frozen flow wrapped products in select Walmart stores, debuting a new four-pack of Ciabatta rolls and a French Batard, marking Tribeca Oven’s first venture into the frozen foods section.
As the company brings more high-quality bakery products to market, Deli Market News will continue to report.
