Since kicking off the year with its expansion into Georgia, Costco has made several moves in new and existing markets to grow its reach. Now, the big-box retailer will continue capturing the hearts of shoppers across the continent as it makes plans for its latest facilities in Idaho Falls, Idaho; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and Belleville, Canada.
According to EastIdahoNews.com, city officials released the news that construction is underway on a new 150,000-square-foot facility to be occupied by none other than Costco.
Reports note that the building was scheduled for completion in August, although the exact date is unclear as the company has yet to comment on the new store.
The latter two store openings are in the process of being worked out, with The Oklahoman reporting that Costco is in negotiations to open a new operations center in Oklahoma City after also eyeing locations in Nevada and New Mexico.
“We don’t have anything to announce yet, but we hope to, shortly,” said Mike Stratis, President of Intrepid Properties, the company that oversees site selections for Costco, noting that the plans are not yet finalized. “We hope to be able in the next couple of weeks to do that.”
And there is nothing like solid ground gained in the rumor mill. Reports have certainly been back and forth as to Costco’s upcoming facility in Belleville, Canada, and now the city’s mayor recently confirmed that the store is most definitely coming.
News source The Intelligencer reported that this store will be 155,000-square-feet, with a gas bar built in as well.
