Costco continues to expand its reach, this time in the form of much anticipation rather than new markets forged. The retailer is coming to Surprise, Arizona, answering a call in the consumer market and adding to its fan-base.
“Our residents have been wanting a Costco for years, so the city is excited that the project is moving into its final stages,” said Mayor Skip Hall in a statement. “It’s essential that we are listening to our residents and working on projects that are important to them, and that’s exactly what happened here. Our Economic Development team heard the community and was relentless in their pursuit of Costco. We are excited to celebrate the grand opening along with our residents this fall!"
The project was initially announced over a year ago, and now this long-awaited location is set to officially open its doors in September.
According to abc15, one of Costco’s corporate spokespersons stated in an email that they could not comment on future warehouses "until we are ready to share details about the new location." This typically occurs two to three months ahead of the opening, and, lucky for us, Costco’s webpage dedicated to its upcoming locations recently noted the Surprise, AZ-based store is on track for this fall.
The new warehouse will reportedly occupy a 152,000-square-foot space with a full lineup of the retailer’s amenities.
Does this move indicate more paused projects for the retailer kicking back into gear? Deli Market News will continue to report.
