A globally recognized event is taking place next week that puts dairy farmers, manufacturers, and processors in the spotlight. From October 4–7, the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association (WCMA) will be posted up at booth #4423 in the Exhibition Hall at the World Dairy Expo. There, the association will showcase the grant opportunities and technical assistance offered by the Dairy Business Innovation Alliance (DBIA), a partnership between WCMA and the Center for Dairy Research (CDR).
Each day of the event, a different DBIA grant recipient will join the booth, ready to answer questions and share their experience, a press release noted. Tuesday, October 4, Anna Landmark of Landmark Creamery will be at the booth between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. to discuss the company’s recent and future growth. Bob Wills of Cedar Grove Cheese will be at the booth Wednesday, October 5 between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to discuss Cedar Grove’s innovative wastewater treatment project.
On Thursday, October 6, Tammy Fritsch of Two Guernsey Girls Creamery will be at the booth between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to discuss the company’s expansion into block cheese production. From 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. later that day, Paul Scharfman of Specialty Cheese Company will be available to share insights from the business’ three DBIA grant projects, including one to expand cheese exports internationally. Finally, on Friday, October 7, Jennifer Orchard of Royal Guernsey Creamery will join the DBIA booth from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. to discuss the launch of the company’s debut product line, supported in part by DBIA grant dollars.
The DBIA is supported by funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and was created in the 2018 federal Farm Bill, the press release continued. Since then, the DBIA has offered technical assistance and administered over $3.7 million in 79 grants across two programs.
