Last September, Hormel Foods announced that it would be partnering with pizza chain Papa Murphy’s to offer its Happy Little Plants® plant-based pepperoni at locations nationwide. After the success of its initial launch, the company has revealed that it will be offering the pepperoni-style topping to pizzerias and restauranteurs looking to add a little plant-based pizzaz to their menus, wowing both meat eaters and plant-lovers alike.
"Our team worked closely with pizzerias, chefs, foodservice operators, and pizza experts to develop a plant-based pepperoni style topping that cooks and tastes exactly like traditional pepperoni," said Anthony Panichelli, Foodservice Pizza Toppings Brand Manager. "Chefs and restaurateurs are very aware of today's dynamic food landscape and consumers' desire to add more plant-based foods to their diets. The new Happy Little Plants brand pepperoni-style topping was developed with foodservice operators to ensure pizzeria-level taste, convenience, and quality, so much so that many people may have a hard time tasting the difference between Happy Little Plants brand pepperoni style topping and traditional pepperoni."
The Happy Little Plants brand’s pepperoni-style topping will be hitting menus across the country over the next few weeks and months, according to a release. Additionally, the new offering will be showcased at the upcoming Pizza Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada, for foodservice operators and owners. Those interested in getting consumer tongues wagging can stop by booth #753 to experience the exciting new product.
With the plant-based sector skyrocketing, this new launch couldn’t come at a better time. As more well-known companies make the foray into the plant-based market, Deli Market News will continue to report.
