Klondike Cheese Company, a family-owned leader in the cheesemaking industry, proudly marks its 100th anniversary in 2025. Since its founding in 1925, the company has remained committed to producing high-quality cheeses, blending tradition with innovation to create award-winning dairy products enjoyed nationwide.
According to the press release, cheesemaking began for the Buholzer family when Ernest and Marie Buholzer immigrated from Switzerland. Klondike Cheese Company began as a small Wisconsin cheese plant dedicated to Swiss cheesemaking. Over the past century, the company has evolved into a powerhouse of dairy craftsmanship, producing an extensive range of specialty cheeses, including its renowned Odyssey® feta, Greek yogurt, dips, sour cream, and labneh as well as Buholzer Brothers® Havarti, Muenster, Gouda, and Brick cheeses. Now led by the fourth generation of the Buholzer family, Klondike Cheese Company continues to uphold the same values of quality, sustainability, and innovation that have defined its legacy.
"Reaching 100 years is an incredible milestone for our family and our team," said Ron Buholzer, one of three third-generation family members, and one of the family’s five Wisconsin Master Cheesemakers. "We've grown from a small local operation into nationally recognized brands, all while maintaining our commitment to time-honored cheesemaking traditions. This celebration is a tribute to the dedication of our employees, the support of our community, and the trust of our customers."
As Klondike Cheese Company looks toward the future, it remains dedicated to crafting exceptional dairy products using the freshest milk from their neighboring Wisconsin dairy farms and state-of-the-art production methods. With a legacy spanning four generations, the company continues to innovate while staying true to its roots—ensuring that its cheeses are enjoyed for generations to come.
