Maple Leaf Foods is once again showcasing the endless possibilities that await the plant-based category. This week, the protein provider unveiled its new Maple Leaf 50/50™, an innovative range of fusion products made with 50 percent premium meat and 50 percent plant-based and natural ingredients.
"There has been significant growth in the meat-alternatives category, but the taste, texture, and long list of ingredients have been barriers for some consumers who want to explore plant-based protein foods," said Casey Richards, SVP Marketing and Innovation. "Providing delicious options that reflect the way Canadians live, cook, and grill is a priority for us at Maple Leaf. We are proud to launch Maple Leaf 50/50 and introduce fusion protein as a balance of meat and plant-based protein for Canadians who love meat protein but want to make sustainable food choices."
The new 50/50 line, which delivers the taste, satisfaction, and sensory experience of traditional meat products, includes the following:
The line first came about because of the growth of plant-based in the market. Maple Leaf Foods wanted to provide Canadian consumers with more sustainable choices in the category, with the new line featuring a new Carbon Zero logo to really drive the sustainability of the products home and help consumers feel good about the choices they've made for their families and the planet, according to a press release.
Maple Leaf 50/50 is available in major grocery stores across Canada now.
As more new products make their debut in the plant-based dairy, deli, bakery, and specialty foods categories, Deli Market News will continue to keep you up-to-date.
