The Raley's Companies Appoints Steve Mayer as President of Bashas'; Keith Knopf Comments on Expansion

Friday, June 16th, 2023

Steve Mayer is taking another major step within The Raley's Companies. The Chief Operating Officer will now be Bashas’ Family of Stores’ newest President. He will be succeeding Trey Basha, who will be stepping down to embark on a new mission with his church.

Steve Mayer, Incoming President, Bashas' Family of Stores“It’s a real honor for me. This is Arizona-based, which is good because everyone that works in the building knows Arizona, and that’s very important to serve our guests,” Mayer commented on his transition. “We’re excited [about Trey’s] new adventure. It’s a calling that he had.”

Mayer is a veteran of the industry and joined Bashas’ leadership team in 2020, noted the company’s release. Under his leadership and direction, Bashas’ continues to build on a strong financial trend and brand evolution while preserving its proud legacy.

The Bashas’ Family of Stores became a division of The Raley’s Companies after the California-based chain acquired Bashas’ in December 2021, as was reported on our sister site ANUK.

Steve Mayer has been named the new President of Bashas' Family of Stores

Along with the appointment, Raley’s unveiled a new hub for merchandising and operations for the Bashas’ Family of Stores, called the Bashas’ Support Center, which is the grocer’s first corporate office move in 90 years. This pursuit for a new office had been underway since the purchase in 2021, noted the release.

Keith Knopf, President and Chief Executive Officer, The Raley’s Companies“We are committed to preserving and enhancing the Bashas’ brands, and this includes our investment in an office that fosters innovation and collaboration. This modern workspace will provide new amenities and create an environment to inspire existing and future team members,” said Keith Knopf, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Raley’s Companies.

The more than 59,000-square-foot office, located at 2650 W. Geronimo Place, serves Bashas’, Food City, AJ’s Fine Foods, Eddie’s Country Store, and Bashas’ Diné grocery stores across Arizona and New Mexico. Phoenix Business Journal reported the layout of the new support center lends itself to collaboration with open spaces.

Congratulations on the new position, Steve Mayer!
