Furthering its commitment to supporting local foodservice operators, Schnuck Markets is investing roughly $200,000 to purchase restaurant gift cards.
“As many families do this time of year, we wanted to support others in our ‘food family,’ in this case the many local restaurants negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Chairman and CEO Todd Schnuck. “We thought the best way to do this was by offering all of our teammates gift cards to these restaurants near our stores, extending our mission to nourish people’s lives to those many businesses and their employees who help make up the communities that we jointly serve.”
According to a press release, the gift cards will be given out to Schnucks’ employees. Each teammate will receive a $15 gift card to a restaurant located within five miles of their work location.
The launch follows two other efforts made by Schnucks to support local restaurants during the COVID-19 pandemic. Earlier this year, we reported that the retailer was partnering with local restaurants by selling grab-and-go meals at its stores. It later went on to expand these partnerships.
Deli Market News thanks retailers like Schnuck Markets for supporting both its team and the foodservice sector.
